Curious who built your house in the 1950's in Cedar Hills?
Look up the builder of your Cedar Hills home by street name.
In addition to Hercules, Inc., there were several builders who constructed the concrete block homes that make up Cedar Hills. The very first homes constructed in Phase 1 & 2 of Cedar Hills started in 1954. Then, in 1955, there was a huge spike in homes being built. Between 1956 - 1957, Phases 3, 4 & 5 wrapped up the construction of homes in Cedar Hills.
Some initial work has begun to research Cedar Hills Estates.
Cedar Hills Estates was initiated in 1956-1957 which overlapped with Cedar Hills proper. Again, there were several builders who built the concrete block homes that have really stood the test of time. In October 1957, the Cedar Hills Builders Association held the First Annual Tour of Homes in Cedar Hills Estates. 23 homes were featured! Perhaps your home was a model home back then!

Luckily, it is possible to look up information at the downtown Jacksonville courthouse. Having been built in the 1950's, information can be found in the bound books up to Dec. 31, 1958. After that, microfilm has some of the information.
The goal of researching our homes is to instill a stronger sense of value in these mid-century ranch-style homes.
